Julia Fiona Roberts was born in Atlanta on October 28, 1967 in the home of Betty Lou Bredemus and Walter Grady Roberts. Julia Fiona Roberts is the fourth generation Roberts who reside in Atlanta. Her father's passion for theatre was inherited by her. in theater from a young age. While he was a student studying at Emory University from 1952 to 1954, he participated in many performances. In 1953, he enlisted in the Air Force, and was stationed in Biloxi in Mississippi, he acted in a production with Betty Lou Bredemus. In 1955, the couple got married and their son Eric Anthony was born. Walter went to Tulane University at New Orleans In 1957, the city of Louisiana where the couple left the US Air Force. Walter was employed by Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio. The family moved in 1960 and moved in Decatur Georgia. Walter along with Betty Lou produced a Saturday matinee local TV show that was aimed at children, called Bum Bum and His Buddies in 1964. This was a project that they funded themselves. In 1964 Betty Lou and Walter founded the Actors and Writers Workshop. The workshop lasted six years. In 1965, they welcomed two children to the family: Lelisa Billingsley and Julia Billingsley.
