Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco - a Canadian as well as an American singer/songwriter. Her albums span over 20 years. DiFranco's songs are classified as folk or alternative rock. They also have influences from hip hop, jazz, and punk. Ani DiFranco was among the first musician to start her own label in the year 1990. Ani is widely considered as a feminist icons. DiFranco was born in Buffalo New York on September 23rd of 1970, her parents Elizabeth (Ross) and Dante Americo DiFranco, who had made acquaintance while studying at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The song is featured on her sixth studio album Not a Pretty Girl released in 1995. The soundtrack to 1999's Canadian romantic film Better Than Chocolate is a version of the song. DiFranco apologized in 2013 after it was reported that she planned to host a three day workshop at an Louisiana slave plantation. It was postponed however, many (including the media) didn't see it as a sign of regret. DiFranco issued an additional apology just a few weeks later.
